capturing beautiful moments in the eastern sierra and beyond.....

natural light elopement, wedding, and portrait photographer servicing Inyo county and Mono county, CA

Hi! I am Amy Leist, a lifestyle portrait and wedding photographer based in the spectacular Eastern Sierra. In my previous life, I worked as a wildlife biologist and spent my time in the field photographing wildlife and landscapes in Hawaii, Alaska, Idaho, and Chile to name a few.  When I settled down a bit and moved to the great basin in 2006, my focus shifted to photos of people as my friends began to get married and start families.

Since moving to Bishop, CA in 2013, I have fallen in love with this beautiful landscape I now call home. My currently passion is photographing individuals and families enjoying the incredible eastern sierra. As a mother of two, and a human being, I delight in being witness to the love and connection expressed between people in extraordinary as well as ordinary times of life. I strive to create relaxed, playful, and authentic images of people having fun together and soaking up the beauty around them.  I blend candid and sometimes posed portraiture with inspiring landscapes and beautiful light to create documentary style collections for my clients. My photos maintain their vibrant color with minimal editing.  Most of my photo sessions take place outdoors around the golden hour before sunset. For in-home newborn sessions, I find and use natural light from windows to create lifestyle photos.

So come, all you engaged couples, expecting mamas, newborn babies, children of all ages, teenagers celebrating a graduation, furry friends, and parents in all your stages of life with as many generations as you can muster: let me document this precious moment in your life. I will do so with respect, emotion, and all the care and energy I have to give.  Let me ramble with you to a place that you hold dear, or to a new location we can explore together.  Let me get to know you a little bit so I can create photos of the real you.
