Amy Leist is a portrait and wedding photographer based in the spectacular Eastern Sierra’s. Before living in Bishop, CA, Amy worked as a wildlife biologist and honed her craft photographing wildlife and landscapes in Hawaii, Alaska, Idaho and Chile. After starting a family and moving to Reno, NV in 2006, Amy’s focus shifted to portraits in a natural progression inspired by more time spent with friends and their children.
Currently Amy’s passion is photographing individuals and families enjoying nature. She delights in being witness to the love expressed between people in extraordinary (weddings and pregnancy), as well as ordinary, times of life. The result is relaxed, playful, and authentic images. Amy blends lifestyle portraiture with inspiring landscapes, creating emotional documentation of lives well lived.
“Amy is an amazing photographer and an artist! She spends time with our family until everyone is feeling comfortable and having fun, then she really captures everyone’s personalities shining. I highly recommend Amy for your next photo session. It’s such a beautiful keepsake to have professional photos. You’ll be happy you chose Amy!”
-Tiffany, Bishop, CA
“Amy has a knack for transforming an ordinary moment into a stunningly raw, beautiful photo of a person or thing set in a magical landscape. Her camera and cuing is unobtrusive and her personality sets you at ease. YOLO! Highly recommend for all ages and stages!”

“Amy has photographed my family many times over the past 6 years. Her pictures never disappoint. One session my son was not the most willing subject, but Amy’s was not phased. Her talent, professionalism, patience and skills brought out his personality and adorable pictures regardless of his mood. My children’s’ personalities have grown and been captured through the years with Amy Leist Photography. It’s so comforting and fabulous to have her work throughout my house and my heart. Amy Leist Photography is simply beautiful works of art by an artist who enjoys and loves what she does. You will not be disappointed.”

“Amy was amazing. I was so impressed and pleased with our photos. The circumstances of our photoshoot were challenging – a baby, a puppy, a quickly setting sun, etc, and Amy handled everything with such professionalism. I don’t ever like photos of myself, and wasn’t sure how our photos would turn out given everything described above, but I loved every single one. No exaggeration. Amy was also really fun to work with, and very helpful in getting our photos to us with a quick turnaround for a birthday present. I was very impressed with Amy’s skill and vision from start to finish. No question I would love to work with her again!”
–Elaine, Bishop, CA “We celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary at Mammoth and Amy did a photo shoot that included our entire family – Three kids, their spouses, and our nine grandkids. Amy found a great outdoor location and was both patient and imaginative as she leveraged the location for some great individual family and large group shots. Many of the photos were used for this year’s Christmas cards

“We couldn’t have dreamt of better wedding photos!!! Amy was amazing at capturing memorable moments cast in that beautiful warm glow. She has such an eye, that even though we had staked out the spot where we wanted to take our “married-couple” shots, she spotted a good moment on the way there as we walked through a gate, and it turned out to be one of our favorite photos of all. She was super friendly, professional, and not cheesy, as I have experienced so many other wedding photographers to be. I HIGHLY recommend her!”
-Siri S., San Francisco, CA
“Amy was the photographer for our wedding, and her work even exceeded my high expectations (I knew she was very talented!) This was especially impressive considering that our wedding was very DIY, and not particularly organized–so much flexibility and adaptability was needed. We didn’t even have a firm location for our more formal shots (not her fault as we were indecisive) and just ended up finding a beautiful spot in the moment that worked out great. Amy was incredible at anticipating needs and helped us consider ways to capture the energy of our special day with her images. She was very attuned to our desires, while at the same time making great suggestions. Even more impressive was the fact that she was very far along in her pregnancy with her second child–but was still amazingly on top of everything! I can’t say enough how impressed I am with Amy’s professionalism and skill. If you are seeking someone to capture your big event, I would highly suggest Amy Leist Photography!”

“Amy not only took wonderful photos that we will be excited to have on our walls for decades to come, but made us feel comfortable the whole time during the photo session. I generally hate having my photo taken, so that’s already a hurdle, but with Amy I didn’t even think about the camera. She also worked so well with our 15-month old, helping him warm up and helping us find the best natural angles and poses. I would highly recommend Amy for her vision, skill, and ability to put her clients at ease. Her photos are gorgeous and she was in constant communication regarding the editing process. Amy did maternity photos for us, and then family photos when our son was a bit over a year, and I am only sad that we didn’t hire her for newborn photos also!”
